depends on how big the cam is, a 305 likes lots o' revs so i would go with a 2,500 which is still pretty mild and can daily drive with it, probley could even jump up to a 2,800

Your 305 doesnt make as much torque as the 350, so a converter rated at "2500" for a 350 will, in all likelihood, stall at a lower speed on your 305.

That said, I've had good luck with the Turbine Technologies TT2400 piece. I chopped off 4 tenths with it, and it only cost $160.

match the converter to the cam.. if you have a cam that makes it's power from 2500 - 6000 rpm, obviously you'll want at least a 2500 stall.

another issue is rear gears...if you're gonna be running a 2500 or so stall converter, you're gonna want at least 3.23s, or drivability will suffer a lot

finally, keep in mind the limitations of TPI. Even on a 305, tpi hits a brick wall by 5500 or so, so unless you're gonna do some upgrading of your tpi components, you'll want to stay reasonably mild on the cam, and the rear gears and the converter as well. It all works together.

oh, and one last comment. Rated stall speeds on a converter are not really accurate. on a 305 which isn't a torque monster, a 2500 stall converter will probably be fully stalled before 2500 rpm. On the flipside, my supercharged 350 with 2500 stall convertor stalls between 2700 and 3000.
