383 w/ 700R4

I'm 18, and probably not as wise as most of you. I've read a couple posts about 700R4's getting blown up under to much torque. I plan on switching out my stock 305 4bbl to a 383. Should I do anything to the stock 700R4 like have it rebuilt with durable parts? What are your opinions? How much torque or horsepower can these 700R4's stand up to?

You will have 30 splines and the '88-92 are essentially the same except for calibration differences. What to do?:
TransGo Reprogramming kit and the Hi Rev release springs that come with it. TransGo Hi Rev Pump Ring Kit. 4L60E Input Sprag Assembly and 3-4 pack setup for eight frictions. All Borg Warner High Energy frictions. Corvette rear planetary. NEW GM Sun Shell. Minimum endplay settings. 093 (Vette) Servo. .477" PR Boost Valve. .282 Int/Rev Boost Valve. TruCool LPD cooler and bypass the radiator.

The converter choice depends completely on the power band of the engine. Your stall should be at or just below where your engine STARTS to make power and the WOT shift points should be set so that it is completed BEFORE the power starts to fall off (NOT your max RPM). A top quality converter supplier is Continental: The number for Continental Converters in Inglewood Ca. is 1-310-674-1072

With proper build and parts selection, upwards of 600 HP.
