That's not the first car that's happened to. Guys have been breaking their suspensions since slicks got sticky back in the 70s.

It happened because the owner doesn't know how to weld and reinforce mounting brackets. That's an old video. The ladder bar mounts he welded to the diff broke right off the diff. Bubble gum welds have no strength.

It's my opinion that there isn't enough inspection of welds at race tracks, by people who know something about welds. There are many cars out there that should be condemed because of poor weld quality.
