TH350 Swap Question

For a friend, I am swapping a 700R4 for a TH350 shortshaft. He's also got the jegs adj torque arm for the swap. My question is that if I get the driveshaft lengthened by 3 inches, I should be ok, right, because if I remeber right, the long shaft is 9" and the short is 6".

Re: TH350 Swap Question

I'm doing the exact same thing with my '87 Z-28 and yes you will have to get those extra inches in the driveshaft i dont think it is exactly 3 inches though its more like 2 3/4 but the machine shop will know when you talk to them. As far as i know that is it I'm waiting on my driveshaft to be done so i will know more this weekend

Re: TH350 Swap Question

what are u guys mounting your torque arm too? th350 swaps need a bracket that bolts to tailshaft and to the tranny mount for the torque arm.

Re: TH350 Swap Question

I'm using Duct Tape, I figure 3-4 loops will do the trick...

but if that don't work the B&M mounting bracket I bought from jegs for a crisp benjamin should be suitable given the Duct Tape fails.

Re: TH350 Swap Question

I used the hurst torque arm kit, but the shaft actually needs to be about 4" longer. I assumed three inches because of the case difference, but after getting one made to three, it was a bit short for me, it went into the trans fien, but it left too much out for my taste. I guess I will chalk it up to experience to measure before having that done again.

Re: TH350 Swap Question

82 Z28 driveshafts work but they are getting hard to find.
