right now we are planning a swap on a 305tbi camaro with 127k miles on it. motor is good, trans in it is good, but it's boring as an a4 car so we are swapping because automatic tbi cars are a dime a dozen and it's hard to find a manual 305 car that hasn't been beat badly. top end of the 305 is getting rebuilt currently, bottom end seems to be fine, gets 40-60 psi at all times and no smoke what so ever. what do we need to consider before doing this swap? we are planning to take out the 2.73 gear and put in a 3.08 so it is a factory correct combo, but we aren't sure about the rest. i have the neutral saftey swtich already, but i don't know if it needs a manual steering column. if i remember correctly, the manual trans cars from the factory have a button on the column by the ignition as a safety feature. we can't tackle this job at home, i'm having a buddy do it for $400. from what i understand the trans bolts right in, and all the 91-92 camaro rs's have a factory cut out in the firewall for the clutch. so it's just a matter of hanging the peddles and master cylinder then? also not sure about what needs to be done to the center counsole. the lower section is universal so i'm told, only the top needs to be changed i think. also, the emergency brake is not working on this car so we need to get that fixed as well. what do we need to do to get this swap to work and be reliable and the same as if it were built as a factory t-5 car?

also, is it required to change the ecm on the car with the swap?

i'm not finding much helpful information here about the complete swap, is there a thread somewhere for this? we just need to know what it needs and needs to be done right. got $1,500 to spend on this, don't want to go much over that.
