I've been looking around at some shift kits such as the one from transgo, but they look like a pain in the *** for not much gain, is there any truth to this?

 

I've put shift kits in a couple different things, and i would say that there is a noticable difference in shifts, plus the tranny last long becuase it doesn't slip as much as a stock tranny does. I would say its worth the money, but i only paid $10 for mine at an extreme discount at a swapmeet.

 

shift kits in a box, not sure, my custom made shift kit, well lets just say it barks the tires into second, but it can do a number on the rear end gears, im sure box kits are good to, im sure they are just not a radical as mine.

only shift improver from a box i delt with is a transcommand from gale banks, on a ford E4OD, but its a computer plug in that goes between the harness and the trans, but it worked real good

the JET servo would be cool. it makes second and third shift harder and feels better seat of the pants than most shift kits. nice there are no adjustment shims on it, just pop it in and go! Bonus the band grabs second harder 35%more than %63corvette for a total of 98% more than stock, and also the spring for third accumulation is a solid chunk of billet aluminum-ha ha. I do it for people that say the corvette servo doesn't seem like enough for a - even though I know the vette servo is doing it's job.

 

Yes they would... I like and have been using the TransGo HD Series reprogramming kits and like the shift characteristics and surely smoke the tires in a WOT1-2 shift.

 

transgo does o.k. yes-but for the ease of the jet servo try it sometime and I doubt you'll disagree with the simplicity that the bears fan is looking for
