shifting problem
I have a 88 iroc that was converted from tpi to carb by the previous owner. He left the computer still hooked up. Last winter I upgraded some parts under the hood, carb, intake wp,psp alt, dist. I also got rid of the computer and all wiring. I rewired the fuel pump but did nothing with the tranny wires. The car shifted fine for the first 6 or 7 times I had the car out and then it happened. The car will shift from first to second and will not shift to third. Do you think it has anything to do with me not doing anything with the wires to the tranny ?
Any help will be appreciated

Re: shifting problem
Only thing controlled electronically in the tranny is the TC lockup function - no wiring has anything to do with actual shifts. TV cable adjusted correctly?

Re: shifting problem
I adjusted it a couple of times and the car shifted smooth. Then all of a sudden it would not shift to third

Re: shifting problem
Did you use a geometry corrector and a nice strurdy throttle cable bracket for the carb swap?
You don't want to hear it I know - but 9 out of 10 times when a gear won't go, it's time for a rebuild.

Re: shifting problem
yes the bracket is a holley model made for the carb. It is solid. If I need a rebuild I might as well spend more and do a T56 swap.
