adjusting my 700R4 86 IROC-Z
Sup guyz? I got a question for all of you. I did this method to adjust my TV cable. There is one problem though. The steps I take are good until I press on the gas pedal to allow the self adjustment of the adjuster. There is no "clicks". Is there a problem with the TV cable or slider assembly?
The following is the steps that Im taking along with the picture provided

From the driver seat, we pushed the throttle all the way to the floor. We could feel/hear the adjuster automatically clicking into the correct position. Back under the hood, we opened the throttle linkage by hand as far as we could. Tip: If the TV cable "clicks" any more (direction of red arrows, photo) by moving the throttle linkage by hand, the car is not getting full throttle from the gas pedal. The cause is often as simple as a poorly placed floor mat. View Related Article

Re: adjusting my 700R4 86 IROC-Z
I tried the GM method first on my 82 Trans Am: Carb'd 305 and 700R4 out of an 85 T/A. Pushed the tab in, slid the slider all the way back, let off of the tab, got in the car, pushed the pedal to the floor slowly and let off. I took it for a test drive and the shift points for normal accel were too high and way too firm.
After many trials with no success, I finally got something that worked. My method is as follows: Push the tab in, slide the slider all the way back, go WOT on the carb by hand without letting off the tab (it pulls the slider all the way out). This will have zero detent when you drive so do not drive with slider all the way out. Move the slider back about halfway in, then test drive. If the shifts are too short and soft then move the slider farther back. If the shifts are delayed and too hard then move the slider back out. I did this over and over about 5 or 6 times till I got it right where I wanted it. The slider ended up being about 1/4" out.

No problem. I thought I would share that and see if it helped out because I had a really hard time trying to get my 700 to shift right. I'd love to know how this works out for ya
