Lost 3rd and 4th

in my 700r4 what most likely broke? I assume I lost a clutch-pack, or a band. basically, it downshifted going up a hill, and then didn't up-shift. it was slipping a little before this happened, but only at the bottom overdrive.

Just curious-

3-4 clutch pick is what you lost

Re: Lost 3rd and 4th

Mine is doing something strange lately too. It only goes into fourth when I shift it manually, and I have to completely let off the gas to do this. Also, if I am on the highway and hit 3/4 throttle quickly it will pop out of gear. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift perfect, even at full throttle. I am thinking it is time for a new transmission. What do y'all think?

Re: Lost 3rd and 4th

I have already been looking. Pretty sure I need a stronger tranny. Engine is pretty mean. Looking for something that can handle about 600hp. Looking at Monster transmissions 700r4, and mad dog 700r4. Both can handle at least that much and are pretty cheap to get. I would love a t56. I am tired of this automatic crap. I just know that if I want a stick I will have to pay big $$ for one that will hold together.

building a 700r4 to handle that won't be anywhere near cheap either

Re: Lost 3rd and 4th

I already know I can pick one up for about $1,000 to $1,500.

link 1: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/700-R...Q5fAccessories

link 2: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HI-PE...Q5fAccessories

There are tons of these things out there, and I just happen to know a place close by called Mad Dog and they claim it can hold 700hp. I can pick it up with a converter for around $1200.

Re: Lost 3rd and 4th

maybe it's just me, but I have trouble buying static parts on ebay, but a transmission, no way, too many fly by nighters. if I was going to go that route, I'd find someone local who I can beat the crap out of if they jip me

Re: Lost 3rd and 4th

LMAO! I know what you mean. The Mad Dog guys are just down the street. I don't think I could beat the crap out of the owner though. Check out the web site and you will understand.

Re: Lost 3rd and 4th

You had better do a search on here about MAD DOG.

They are not highly thought of. Cheap trans means cheap parts. Search here first, then make up your mind. I was thinking the same thing as you about a month ago. Then I looked into them. 90% of the people that has had one has had problems out of it.

Go google "Pro Built Automatics" get one of his kits and have somebody rebuild it for you. Thats what Im doing. Going to end up costing around $800 minus converter
