700r4 question

Whats it take to get 3-4 upshift @ W.O.T.? I had a Trans-go kit done on a 200r4 and i hated it...teeth rattling shifts...done by a prof. shop. So I'm leary about putting one of these kits in my 700r4. I was under the impression that the interceptor packages would at W.O.T. for the 3-4 upshift,
thanks,
matt

Re: 700r4 question

i think that one is kinda up in the air. i had a pro build my tranny and he said that it was a 4l60 no electronic so a newer 700r4 says those will do a WOT 3-4 shift but it doesnt. itll shift up at 4500 rpm from 1-2 and 2-3 but i bounce the 6100 rev limiter in 3rd

Re: 700r4 question

It won't, when you shift from third into fourth, the entire drivetrain inside the transmission switches directions. So... going into fourth at WOT would be a bad idea.

I build these thing's for a living, and I could make it do it, but there's no way I would, nor would I recomend anyone else do it.

Re: 700r4 question

To make a 700R4 go into 4th at WOT will require you to block the 3-4 PT passages in the Throttle Valve sleeve. Some late Corvettes have this. This can be done without dropping the valve body. I have the instructions for this, but someone posted them a little while back here on the forum. I can fax them if need be. It requires two allen screws, a dremel, and the usual hand tools. You should increase the feed hole size in the separator plate, and the 4th accumulator should be limited or blocked, depending on what torque converter you are using. The standard 4th servo has apx. 98% of the same apply area as a Corvette 2nd apply servo, so it will do a good job of making a 3-4 WOT shift. Dana
