Few Questions about Trans Swap
I'm converting my 91 to a 5 speed.
Heres the easy part: This T-5 supposedly came out of a 85. Would it fit my 91? Also he said it's a WC, how do I check that?
Hard part: My camaro has the speed sensor, not mechanically driven... How would I convert the T-5 to electronic and what size gears should I use? My current tires are 285/35/18 and currently have the 3.08 open drum (converting to 3.73 posi disc after tranny swap). HELP!!!
Instead of going through the headache of the gears on the Speed sensor and such, isn't there a little box thing that converts mechanicalinto digital, than can't I modify the signal so it would work? I remember something but not sure....
And finally, the guy I'm buying the swap from lost the bolts, anyone have a diagram of the bolts and sizes?
Thanks in advanced!!!

Re: Few Questions about Trans Swap
Yes it should physically fit, assuming it's a V8 T5. No it's not a WC if it came in an 85. Don't trust that it's original, run the tag number, learn to visually ID a WC T5 (google it).
Do a search, there are plenty of threads talking about converting from the electric VSS to mechanical or vice versa. The parts are out there and cheaper then the alternative.
Go to www.compnine.com and you can look up the replacement bolts. I wouldn't buy from them, you'll be paying GM list price, but their website will identify the size and quantity required. Also keep in mind the T5 torque arm mount is unique, be sure you get it with the transmission. Keep in mind that under ideal conditions, the T5 isn't really ideal even behind a stout 305.

Re: Few Questions about Trans Swap
Thanks! Also, I'm going to buy a mini starter cause mine is going out. What kind of starter would be a direct bolt in?
The guy said it's from an 87, is it still a possibility that it's WC?
Also, has anyone ever heard of the F1 Racing Clutch kits? (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/F1-ST...item5ad3f7c0ea)
I don't want to put in a piece of **** clutch that'll go out in 50k miles....

The T-5 FAQ at the top of the page will provide a wealth of info/pics. Note that you'll have to change both drive and driven gears in a 3.08 to 3.73 swap. You'll also have the VSS issue to contend with, as the one from the 700R4 won't fit the T-5. You might consider phoning the following company for advice since tire size will also be a factor for a correct speedo reading:

There's also a sticky on T-5 Drive/Driven Gear Info, which also contains how-to's for the gear swaps.

Now, has anyone ever heard of the F1 Racing clutch, clutchmaster or luk kits? I plan on doing a little to my motor and right now it is a 350. I plan on converting to a hjolley 600cfm, performer intake, headers and a full 3 inch exhaust. So I think a stage 2 would be sufficient. What clutch kit would you recommend with out breaking the bank, as I am still in high school and I am always broke paying for gas hahaha.

I use a CenterForce II behind my 350 HO Deluxe (more about that in my Car Details), and am satisfied with its performance.
