Bitchin' Camato. What's with the annoying whine all the time? Bad alternator bearings? Or power adder? It kind of overpowered the rest of the video.

Dude it's just a gear drive. Cheap insurance cause if your timing chain snaps, kiss your engine goodbye.

Ahhhh, so that's why they say you can't run one with a knock sensor.

Thanks, for the motivation, I needed some.

I figured it was something like that. Personally if something on one of my cars made noise like that I'd tear it apart and fix it, but that's just me. The gear drive really drowned out all the other sound in the video. Cool that it's done!

I have a gear drive in mine too, it's not as profound as that one, but I like it. Nice job on the T-56, it's a good kick start for me because just got my T-56 yesterday

However, it's going into an 84 Monte Carlo because I'm not sure if the Camaro's body will handle the motor I built

Wow...How much power do you have? I have been around the game for a while and have never seen a "snapped" timing chain.

They're more likely to stretch, but they can break too. Its only been happening since they started using chains....

If they made those with helical teeth to quiet them down to reasonable levels, I'd be all for it. I need my knock control.

The topic and subject are "T56 first drive" posted in the Transmissions and Drivetrain forum.. Don't have to be a rocket scientist...

Re: First drive after T56 swap (Vid)

Much more fun to drive, and the .5:1 6th gear makes cruising SOO much better. I still have to install the actual trans in the car (the one thats in it was bought locally while another was being rebuilt) install the 5" gauges, relocate the TQ arm, adjust the parking brake, and install the center console. I've been lazy but I hope to have it done this weekend.

I'm going to dimple the floor too because I think my pedal is hitting the floor before it travels fully.

Overall it's awesome. The T5 in my IROC has a much longer clutch travel though.
