Powertrax install issue!
I'm having a problem installing my Powertrax into my carrier, as it won't fit. I followed the directions but when I get to the driver paddle it doesn't seem to go in no matter which way I turn the unit. I'm not sure if my carrier is a 7:5 or 7:625. But it is a Powertrax diff lock #1931-LR. Also it does except my 28 spline Moser axles, but I did have to have the carrier opened a little to except the axles. So my question is does it make a difference what size Powertrax it is to the carrier, or vise versa?

Sounds like you are using the wrong case. If you are using a 26 spline case then you need to get a 28 spline case. The inside dimentions are not the same. You can get one from an S10 truck. They are more comon.

By case do you mean the carrier, as I had to have the carrier which is a 26 spline carrier opened up a little to except the 28 spline axles?

You're going to need a 28 spline carrier if you have 28 spline axles. You just can't take a Dremel to a 26 spline carrier and get it to fit 28 spline axles.
Re: Powertrax install issue!
Yes, the carrier, or differential case. The case was redesigned when they went to 28 spline axles. You need a 28 spline differetnial case. The 28 spline Power Trax was made to fit the 28 spline case, not the 26 spline case. This means that you are going to need to check the backlash before you remove the existing case and reset the backlash when you install the 28 spline case. The backlash will probably change when changing cases and will need to be set back to the original number. Read this so that you will know what needs to be done. http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/showth...ht=change+posi

Re: Powertrax install issue!
Just an update, and to close this thread. It was the wrong carrier, so he gave me the correct one. I just got done re-assembling it tonight, and yes I did re-due the backlash. Everything looks good, so tomorrow I'll just go over-thing making sure I didn't miss anything.
