driveshaft to transmission problem

driveshaft to transmission problem
i recently swapped my motor out in my 82 sport coupe to 383 stroker and turbo 350 as i installed the tranny i noticed the drive shaft when slid into tranny there was at least 2 inches that still isnt in the tranny should it need to be flush up to the tail shaft? im not sure if it is long or short tail shaft.
