Wheel stud length for new rims
Just bought new rims and tires. I bought summit fast five wheels. 15x4 with 1.750 backspacing up front and 15x10 with 6.5 backspacing in back. I just test fitted the rim for the hell of it and the 12mm studs I have on now are way to short. My rearend is getting rebuilt shortly and my new axles are dual drilled for 7/16 press in and 1/2 in screw in studs. I was going to get the press in studs but I have changed my mind and want the 1/2 screw in studs. Question is how long should I get them ? I was planning on useing open ended 60 degree conical lug nuts which is what i believe i need to use on that rim just didnt want the stud sticking out a mile past the lug nut.

Hard for us to say, without knowing the thickness of your wheels hub...Using open-ended or closed-end lug nuts.....

I believe the rule of safety is like for thread engagement, 75% of the lug diameter.
Personally? I go for 100% engagement of threads, if not an extra turn on any wheel. I run the stock lug nut caps on mine they engage just fine. Then again, I run the early ROH Snypers that were specifically designed to fit 3rd gens so....
