New transmission/tv cable issue

Hello all,

Have a newly rebuilt transmission from a very reputable shop in the area. bought a brand new tv cable from napa and have double checked to make sure its the right one. Problem is the tv cable has a full inch of slack as opposed to the 1/8" max its supposed to. even at full throttle, it doesn't cause the auto adjuster to click at all. I have also checked and it is attached to the spring in the trans as it should be.
This transmission hasn't been driven since the rebuild (filled and run but not in gear), is this something that will be pulled back in once all the valves and stuff start working? I spent a good chunk of change getting this trans built strong so I don't want to smoke it because of a 20 dollar part.

thanks in advance for the help,

Jason

You need to get a GM TV cable...

if you unhook the cable and apply tension on it buy pulling it gently do you feel some tension? or better said resistance?

Re: New transmission/tv cable issue

you might have to get a GM made cable then... you won't be the first that has had problems with an aftermarket cable...

or the only other option I see is buying a lock, don't know what they're called you would have to cut the end of the cable, after the throttle linkage and then pull on the cable so it's flush with WOT...
