Running engine without TV cable hooked up?

Should the engine idle without the TV cable hooked up on a 700r4 or will it hurt the tranny if your not trying to go anywhere?

ok good because i need to adjust my carb and timing but have to wait for the little TV cable nipple (Don't know the exact name) for the throttle bracket.
