in the market for a moser

im looking for a moser 12 bolt on summit.
this will be 4th gen dimensions since all my rims are 4th gen offset.
with some good spline axles. and a nice gear ratio.

im running a stock ls1 with supportive mods.. keep in mind i have a gto tranny. (different gearing )
so a 4:11 gear ratio might be too high i am running a 3:42 right now

i doubt i will go with a nine inch rear end. and i dont wanna build a 10 bolt
12 bolts will weigh a bit more but ill be ok with that.
i want to use my current ls1 rear brakes as well/
and i plan to do drag and auto x.

any suggestions?

Nice car, I really like the wheels. If you want to do auto cross then I recommend a Truetrac differential. 30 spline axles should be fine. If you want to keep the c clips that would also be fine, but if you want to eliminate teh c clips I recommend using the tapered roller bearings. If you order the housing right you can use your brakes without modifications. If you don't order it right then you will have to modify the caliper brackets, but they will still work.

http://www.wavetrac.net/

The wavetrac, pretty good diff. I am no expert but from what they say i am pretty sure that the way it splits the torque is perfect for most any racing application.

I am also lookin for a rear end and have not come to any conclusions yet. will most likely be going with a moser as well.

Have you priced the Wavetrac? You can buy 2 Eatons or Truetracs for what one of them cost. They are over $900! They are suppose to be good for 1200 HP, so if you had a real high HP car it would be worth the money.

Re: in the market for a moser

Well... what I need is a diff that spins both the tires as much as possible for max traction seeing as how my camaro will be designed to be a corner carver. so, besides an eaton e-locker and having to turn on and off the diff i have not really been able to find something that spends both tires and can still go around a coner. the wavetrac seemed to be one of the only ones i could find.

and diffs you can point out would be appriciated.

Re: in the market for a moser

Which rear end is this for? If you still have the 7.5 10 bolt then the Torsen woudl be a good choice. A selectable locker isn't going to be good for corners because when it's locked it will not allow one wheel to turn faster than the other in a turn. This is going to cause the tires to break loose and cause the car to handle bad. The Torsen is smooth and works well for corners. The Eaton posi is also good, but I think the Torsen or Truetrac are better for corners. A locker, such as the Power Trax, is going to be jerky in corners and may also cause loss of traction.

This is kinda true. A limited slip unit will be smoother but a locker isnt that bad. I have a Detroit Locker in my Camaro and sometimes I'll feel the back end jumping a little bit, but its never much. If you let off the gas then it will unlock and is perfectly smooth. I will say though that I still have the little 235 factory sized tires out back so they can slip fairly easily. Maybe once I get fatter tires I'll notice it more. I also would only get this if you have good axles. I have 31 spline Moser axles so I'm not worried about breaking one.
