Please don't kill me, but im just confusing myself the more I read.
As many others have Im swapping out my 85 9 bolt drum rear end for a 96 disc rear end. I saw in the sticky that I should order parking brake cables, but do I order ones for a 85 bird with disc or a 96 car. Also any 82-97 disc brake valve will work won't it. Sorry im sure these questions have been answered many times, but could not find them. thanks Steven

I'm pretty sure you can use your cables up until the LS1 years. They changed the e-brake handle from a manually adjustable one to a self-adjusting one in 89 or 90. You may have to get a new e-brake handle. Not a big deal though. Just keep that in mind.

What year is your car? In 87 or 88 they switched around the thread sizes for some of the lines going into the prop valve, so you wont be able to go to a newer one without changing that but thats not a huge deal really. Annoying though. But from 1989 (I think) to 1997 the rear calipers are pretty much the same PBR design. They look a little different on the newer cars but they're functionally about the same, so most of the late 3rd gen stuff will work on them.

I dont know how diff the early disc prop valve is to the later one, they may be the same, they may not be, I dont know.

It is a 85. The only other question is, does anyone know where the picture thread is of the tire width after the swap. I was looking at it last night and now can't find it.

 

Not sure about the thread, but Im planning on taking some pictures of how much mine stick out tomorrow evening.

It roughly moves each wheel 2" further out. I do not like the looks of mine with the stock 3rd gen wheels. Ive got a set of 02 ws6 wheels to go on in their place once I get my trans rebuilt.
