recent change
i own a 92 rs that was factory tbi i changed it carb 350.i have been reading that it is a must to wire up a lock up kit for fourth gear.i have the tci kit.it is a 700r4 trans but my ? is.why do i need this if im leaving the eck hooked up in the car doesent it run off the ecm? or not

No need to buy a lockup, I went from TBI to carbed 350 and had my transmission built and it locks in just fine into OD around 55-60. It runs off hydralic pressure so once the pressure builds high enough it will fall into OD. Most if not all 700R4's are run off hydralic pressure and don't have much for electrical inside them.

why is it that in the carb forum they say it is a must.it will go into fourth gear but the tourq converter will not lock up some guys have said that it has burnt their trans up and some say it works fien read through my thread in carbs called tbi to carb answers c if i missed anything thanx

it will go into 4th just fine, and all depends on the setup you have. With mine It would go into OD just fine, with my new setup it hasn't yet, but I also havent had it out on the freeway over 70mph to see if it will lock up.
