Installation question Transgo 7-CS Hi Rev spring kit
Installation question Transgo 7-CS Hi Rev spring kit
Installing the kit on a 89 700R4.
The kit comes with 3 bags of small springs used for the 3, 4 clutch
spring assembly.
There is also a bag with 14 larger springs that appear to be used
for the over run clutch spring assembly. I removed the 14 springs
which are held in place by a ridge so the springs can be pried off with
a small screwdriver.
The replacement springs seem to have a slightly larger inside spring
diameter so they are not held in place by this ridge which is built into
the retainer plate.
Are you suppose to squeeze the bottom of the spring to make the
diameter smaller so it's held in place by the retainer ?

Re: Installation question Transgo 7-CS Hi Rev spring kit
First, try both ends of the spring, one side is usually smaller than the other end. If not put the retainer on a hard race or piece of steel that will fit inside the retainer and take a 1/2" steel ball and wack it once lightly, and try the spring and see if it will hold, if not wack it once more but don't over do it. Then repeat the process for the balance of the spring retainer. This is the way I do this. Install each spring the opposite of the last one installed. In otherwords, have the spring cut on the end of each spring the opposite of the last, one spring with the cut upward, the next spring the cut downward, etc. This way you will have the retainer standing perfectly straight up. If all the springs are the same way, then the spring assembly will lean over. Do the same for the little springs that are for the 3-4 setup.
