t-5.... wheres first?
ok, i picked up a used t-5 for my conversion and now its all installed with my new 355.... now what I got going is my first gear jumps out ALL the time. If I take off real slow sometimes it catchs just fine, but for the most part I look like a newbie slamming it into first again and again at every light. Also if I downshift and engine brake into first for the most part it will hold when I go to take off again.... synchros??? Anybody out there rebuilt a t-5,(don't think its a WC) I'm thinkin about goin for it...?

Re: t-5.... wheres first?
2 things wrong:
1: The reason you have throwout in you're 1st is the detents are shot. Rebuilding the trans yourself unless you have access to parts at cost is not too great of an idea. I had mine done maybe 2 or 3 years ago for $1000 and came with a year warranty. not too bad IMO.
2: Save your money. Rebuilding a trans that has a torque rating of like 300 lb/ft and putting it behind even a slightly modified 355 is just throwing it away. You need something beefier. Be it a 5 or 6 speed. There are a few different options, just need to pick what you want. I'm personally fond of the T56 and it's 2 overdrives, and that one's rated for 450 lb/ft of torque
