this thread simply has 50 posts more then it needs to!

YES, a t5 will hold up..but powershifting/clutch dumps/missed gears are going to destroy one, or shorten its life drastically.

Please do not listen to 75% of the members, in my experience with this website over the last 10 or 15 years however long its been, Most are children, who have no experience, and are simply spewing garbage based on what their buddys dads uncles grandfather did 15 years ago..

Simply put, it will survive, but beating on it will shorten its life, just like with any other transmission.

and to EFIhead, yes, i have a hurst shifter..i like it

The casing is weak and so are the stock internals. A single billet retainer can't change that. If yours has held up then you've either gotten lucky, or you aren't "abusing" it. Or some might say, "using it." Its either that or you must have the Arnold Schwarzenegger of all T5's or something.
Hello 87WS6!!

The T-5 was rated at 295, and the WC T-5 was rated at 300 lb-ft of torque, they will handle more!!

As with all things that have a "safety rating" there is always a "safety margin", and this is the case with the T-5's!!

I have a T-5 in my car. My car is rated at 295 lb-ft of torque at 3200 rpm, based on your info, my T-5 should "grenade" after shifting from second to third the first time!!

If you abuse things, things will break, if you take care of things, with occasional abuse, they should last!!!

The "safety margin" for the T-5, and the WC T-5 was not enough for GM to be satisfied that there would not be an unusual amount of warranty claims, coupled with the "CAFE" regs, that's why the 350 didn't have a T-5!!

@ 89fbirdformula, I agree with you 100%!!
