Transmission/speedo problem

Alright, ever since I bought my Iroc it has had a shaky speedometer and I got the gear replaced cause it was really wore down to a complete circle and now after about 6-7 months its shaking again I was wondering if anyone knew if this is an actual tranny problem or what was up.

Re: Transmission/speedo problem

Hmm... That is odd, I never had that happen, is it a cable speedometer?

I did a search and only found this:
http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...do-i-need.html

They had the gear wear problem too, but never actually said what caused it.

The only thing I can think of would be incorrect gears, or something is causing the plastic gears to drag (like the cable in a mech speedo) If yours is cable, try to spray some WD-40 down it after pulling the cluster forward.

Re: Transmission/speedo problem

It is a mech speedo and the cable turns fine so Im thinking it may be the incorrect speedo gear....the mechanic i took it to when i was clueless about it said my transmission is messed up but in my opinion it shifts and works just fine so I think he may be wrong on that note

Re: Transmission/speedo problem

Did you take a look at the drive gear? If it's gone bad for some reason, its condition might causes issues with the driven gear.
