Well she doesn't look like much on top, but the bottom looks pretty fine for $500.

Unknowns are gear ratio, posi or no, and can I get my LS1 rear brakes on in place of the drums. But for 5 bills I'll figure it out believe me

The one mystery is the little brackets on the back of the housing mounts in the third pic. They are on both sides of the rear. Anyone got any ideas what these are for?

From what I know, Those "brackets" are chunks of plastic that the factory used to have the car jacked up to assemble, most were removed after assembly or came off from regular driving. I could be mistaken though

I have no idea for sure.

Maybe auxilliary shock mounting (think quad-shocks like on the Fox-bodies.)

I'm going to go out on a limb here that based on them being welded onto the steel of a non-factory rear axle assy., they're not plastic and not OEM for assembly purposes.

They were for the wheelie-bars

There is a solid panhard bar with rod ends, a crappy torque arm that is scrap as far as I'm concerned (unless someone wants to pay me for shipping it then it's free to anyone).

Someone else mentioned wheelie bar mounts.............kinda funny to think that's what they are. But the car does have tow bar mounts on the front, so at one time it must have had a fairly healthy engine it it to need a 9 inch rear and not to be streetable enough to drive it to the track.

I'm in this for $500 now, called the scrappers and the pick-n-pull will come get it and give me $129 for it after I pull the rear and tires. . Think I have the wheels sold for $100, and have a set of the ultra rare 82 sill plates in black. The 82's didn't have the bottom retractor and they are perfect for putting 4th gen belts in. This is only the third set of 82 sills I've found that were worth keeping. I have a set for my car, and sold the 2nd set, and will be selling this new set. Might just sell the panhard bar also. I already have one I made and my fiancee wouldn't know the difference with it on her car anyway.



So $500 minus $229, and minus prob $60 for the sills I'll be in it $211. Then I have my 10 bolt 3.73 with an eaton posi in my car I'll be selling for prob $400 or so. Bottom line is I'll be about $200 ahead. Also need a windsheild for her 89, so that's a savings there. Don't need anything for my 87 other than the rear. If I need to change the ratio the gears are $160 from summit, and if no posi I already have one sitting on the bench if needed. But I can't imagine going to the expense of putting a 9 in this car without putting a posi in also. Just have to wait and see I guess.

Overall it sure pays to check craig's list no matter how stupid and dumb the ad reads

Just got the car home last night and it's definately a ford 9". Has a posi and 31 spine axles, and 3.50 gears. Looks like some time in the past the stock torque arm failed and it ripped the TA brackets off the housing and someone tried to to weld it back on in the car. Looks like chicken crap welds.. And they built a mickey mouse torque arm and used a tie rod adjusting sleeve for the top adjuster on the arm they built. Scap metal as far as I'm concerned.

I talked to Curie and they gave me info on how to reattach the TA bracket. Got a buddy that's a profession welder that I'm going to ask to help me get the bracket back on. Overall all I'm pretty happy with what I ended up with for $500. Wish it had 3.70 gears in it, but I may just put the 3.50's in and run with those. Not really much of a difference.

so its a currie 9". cool. I never did like how currie went about mounting the torque arm, their bracket just looks so cheap and weak, maybe why it broke in the first place

You certain it's a 9", the center cection and axle tubes look like an 8". Can you post a picture of the front of the drop-out. ?

Just got another surprise from this car today. Took the front wheels off and found these. They are an older version of the Superlites I have on my car.

The big brake upgrade for my second IROC just got a lot cheaper
