700r4 pan leaks

Axle/Gears: 3.23 posi
700r4 pan leaks

Just doubled checked and its the 4L60E formerly known as the 700r4 :P sorry

Hey all just got my car out of storage and found a nice small puddle of trans fluid under the car, thinking about redoing the gasket, and filter. how much fluid should i replace after doing this?

The Haynes manual says the 700-R4 takes 4.7 quarts (4.45L), and that the capacities are approximate so add as necessary.

Thx Dude, lost my service manual in the garage somewhere and needed the info asap, its a zoo in that place :P

4-5 qts if your just replacing the filter/gasket. 11-12 qts if your starting from "scratch".

Just remember to start the car, hold the brake, shift through all of the gears slowly and check the trans dip stick while its running at operating temp. I dont think there is a better way when you dont know how much is actually in the trans or how much leaked out. Mine leaked to not to long ago. I just tightened the bolts on the pan for now and it stopped. I'll do the gasket later.
