Cannot find a flyhwheel for my car anywhere...
Alright so I started my T-5 swap but ran into one problem. The flywheel that was given to me is a 2pc rms flywheel where as my engine is a 638 block (1pc rms).
I am on a big budget. I cannot pay more than 100 dollars for a flywheel cause thats all I have simply.
I went to carquest and they supposedly had one for 90 dollars. It came in and it was a truck flywheel. Than they said that they have one more they can try. It's a 2pc rms...
Autozones vendors no longer sells flywheels
Advanced autoparts has a 149.99 one and a 58.99 one. The 58.99 one is made by zoom BUT it is 168 teeth where as I need 153.
NAPA didn't have any idea what I am talkin about so I just walked out pissed.
Somethings I want to verify:
A 305 flywheel will fit a 350 right?
Can someone get me a casting number of a 1pc rms 153t flywheel? Carquest said they could probably cross reference it.
This flywheel supposedly fits my camaro: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sk...%26+Drivetrain can anyone shed some light please!!!!
Also I bought a 10.5 inch clutch. I'm assuming this is correct?

Re: Cannot find a flyhwheel for my car anywhere...
maybe try a real parts store not autozone carquest advanced ect. Napa should have it, must have been talking to a idiot
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SBC-M...Q5fAccessories
backorder
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ZZZ-50-6527/
i pickup up one from AMS racing for about 100bux, and its billet 4340 and lightweight, cant find it on their site, their search blows, but its been a great flywheel, maybe call?
http://www.amsracing.net/index.php
defiantly go back to NAPA and try again, they have to have it, or even a dealer, the stock ones are not that expensive.
as for the one you linked, they say it fits. The picture is not of the actual part
305 and 350 flywheel are the same, the flywheel doesnt care what the displacement is, just that its a sbc with a 1pc rear main

Re: Cannot find a flyhwheel for my car anywhere...
When I was going to use a T5 clutch setup for my T56 swap I went into Advance Auto parts and bought a stock T5 flywheel no problem. I think it was right at $100. I just told them I needed a flywheel for a 91 Camaro 305.

The one I posted is for a 91. Thats a 1 piece like I have. What makes you think its for a 2 piece?

Re: Cannot find a flyhwheel for my car anywhere...
All 82-92 Fbodies use a 153 tooth flywheel. All 86-92 V8's are one piece rear main seal blocks, and can use the same flywheel. All you need to do is have your local parts store get you a flywheel for any 86-92 5spd Camaro.
As long as the bolt pattern is the same it's the correct flywheel. A 1pc flywheel won't physically bolt to a 2pc crank, and vice versa.

Re: Cannot find a flyhwheel for my car anywhere...
I picked up a 1045 Billet steel flywheel from maddog racing for $108 shipped.
They make a 1pc rms, 153 tooth, for the same price.
Not SFI approved, but I'm not racing in a class that requires an SFI flywheel, not to mention SFI rating is only good for 2 years, and I doubt a steel flywheel is going to fail.
A nodular flywheel for $50, I'd be concerned with that. With my motor, not yours..

Yes a 305 fly wheel will bolt to a 350. small blocks are interchangable for the most part. just dont interchange anything with a 400, there balanced different

They made the full surface ~30lb flywheel for 86+ SBC/LT1 in 153 tooth. They also made it for 85-down.
They made the scalloped surface ~16lb flywheel for 86+ SBC/LT1 in 153 tooth. And they made basically the same flywheel for 85-down including 396/427.
One easy way to tell the difference between 2pc RMS and 1pc RMS flywheels is this:
The 2pc RMS rear crank flange acts in part as a counterweight so the flywheel won't have one. The 1pc RMS rear crank flange is round and the flywheel has a counterweight.

I would go to a junk yard and find a late model 350 tbi truck with a manu trans and pull it off and have it turned. that should come in well under 100 bucks.

Re: Cannot find a flyhwheel for my car anywhere...
Plus the trucks used a 168 tooth flywheel. I know that for a fact because I'm using one on my T56 setup. All he needs is a 91 Camaro flywheel. If the parts store cannot get that, then he needs a new parts store.

Welp, I paid 103 dollars for that eBay one. The autoparts stores around me all suck I guess. Car quest had one for 120 dollars but I only have 105....

Re: Cannot find a flyhwheel for my car anywhere...
I just caught that. I did a swap with a late 350 and I had to change starters. And I agree if the parts store is that lame to not have or get 1 thats bad business.
Re: Cannot find a flyhwheel for my car anywhere...
Just to clarify for anyone doing a search I bought my flywheel today from napa. They overnighted it for me and everything. I paid 109.56 cents. For anyone else looking for one napa is the best place to get it. Order it for a 90 camaro part number is NNC 506527

Looks like a new nodular made in china stock replacement 16lb 153 tooth flywheel to me.
Re: Cannot find a flyhwheel for my car anywhere...
Ordered a NEW stock replacement. Haven't got my motor started yet to tell you how it goes. But it seemed alot lighter than the stock 2 pc flywheel I did have thats why I had to order a 1 piece. I would recommend it. It seemed nice and strong.
