Will this rear end fit????

Ok, I'm a newb. I'm buying a '91 Camaro RS 3.1 V6 today for 200$ but it don't run, but that's beside the fact (i might be on later to ask how to fix it)... I have been researching a lot in the past 4 days, and i am looking to get this POSI rear end and this is what the post said:

"I have for sale an '87 Camaro Z28 rear end. It has 3.23 gears with a POSI limited slip. It also has disk breaks from a '97 Camaro, and all new wheel studs. Overall it is in really good shape. I am getting rid of it because I will be moving soon and I will not be able to take it with me."

Will this bolt right up to my car? Do i have to get a V8 Tranny? it is a 10 Bolt...

p.s. is 200$ a good price for this rear end?

Re: Will this rear end fit????

Physically, a 87 rear end is a 100% bolt in. If the gears are different than what are in your car now? Your speedometer will read wrong, but that is an easy change of the little gears in the tranny.

You may find the following info on the 10-bolt interesting:

Re: Will this rear end fit????

Your 91 will have 28 spline axles and whatever carrier it came with, open, posi or gov-lock. The 87 will have the smaller 26 splines unless it's been upgraded. Assuming you have an 700R4 tranny, you already have 3.23 gears. If a manual, you have 3.42 gears.

For $200, you're getting 97 disk brakes since using the posi with the smaller axles is a step backwards. You'll need a 28 spline posi to use with your 91's 28 spline axles. Buy it, yank the brakes off then resell to make some money towards a new posi. Posi's don't last forever. They do wear out so buying a used one doesn't mean it's any good.
