I have a t5 out of a 86 camaro. I just rebuilt my motor and put ram hd clutch and new pilot bearing, new flywheel, and all arp hardware. now here my problem if start the car and try to put it into gear i cant get it into gear so my buddy and i bleed the clutch but we did it wrong but i didnt know til i did research and found out how to bleed the clutch from http://www.teamrip.com/how_to_proper...utch_info.html so me,my girlfriend, and mom went out and bleed the clutch to the directions and now it grinds when trying to put it reverse and than when i try to put it in gear it makes the motor die down. any ideas?

Re: T5 Problems

I had some problems replacing a clutch in my '87 T/A. Honestly i just placed the clutch fork in the wrong position on the throw out bearing. This kept me from disengaging the clutch to where i could not get it into gear.

Wont hurt to pull the boot off to make sure that the whole clutch fork is in between the throw out bearing. I thought the thin metal (spring) went on the outside of the throw out bearing, so that it would not come off, well i was completely mistaken ha.

Re: T5 Problems

thanks for the help ckelton but my throw out bearing is installed right.

called Ram Clutches and talked to there tech apartment and they said the throw out bearing isnt big enought being i got a hayes flywheel and the clutch and that i need to shim the flywheel or get adjustable throwout bearing. THan i called summit talked to there tech apartment and they said i had three choice slip the clutch for awhile ( cant do that wont go in gear), buy adjustable throwout bearing ( they said that might be a bad idea cause if i adjust it too much and can put the Bearing right thru the fingers), last choice take trans out and pull bellhousing and pull off pressure plate and put 3/8 washer between the flywheel and pressure plate.

Re: T5 Problems

My similar problem was I had the wrong flywheel. If you are using a "stock type" clutch, you want a Centerforce 700100 flywheel or the same type from another brand.

I was using a RAM stock type from Summit when I found mine. (the $100 one)
