Th700r4, mount -93 internals into -83 core??

Can i strip my cracked 1993 th700 and place all the internals, servo, 30spline shaft, and valve body in a 1983 core?
Visually they look the same except for some minor changes, even the aux valve body fits. same measures.

I know that you are supposed to look for a -87 and newer core but they dont come easy here in Sweden.

I didn't think i was so bad in english that no one would understand what i'm writing..

Are the housings/cases interchangeable, i would like to reuse all the parts that you can unscrew from the -93 housing.

Or should i consider this summer dedicated to jackstands while i look abroad for a newer housing?

As long as you also change the ft pump with all of the other hard parts it will work . Be sure to double check the valve body for alignmnet holse as improvement was also done there .

Let us know

Thank you Tx.

All the parts i'll take from the -93 transmission.
Only the aluminium housing i intend to use from the -83.

No the housings are not interchangeable. there are big differences especially in the valvebody area. the internal rotating parts are somewhat interchangeable but not all.

the 93 pump cannot be used in the older case. you will have a major internal leak.

Is this something that is significant for the 93 pump or is it the same as all -87 and newer pumps?

I now have a empty(low/reverse piston is left) case from a -87 will this be better to transplant my -93 parts to?

The ID of the -87 is -7FAM if it makes any difference.

the 87-up should be interchangeable, the only difference I can think of is the electrical plug in the case. 1 is a square 4wire the other is multi wire round.

Ok Thank you, then i´ll start the assembly tonight.
I have the electrical plug from the -93 so that is not a problem.

Something that got me wondering is the measures of the low reverse piston.
The newer -93 is approximately 1mm higher(or 0.0393")

But it shouldn't be a problem since the rear planetary holder is mounted inside and the parking lever(not sure about the word here) still reaches and locks in the splines.

The newer part nr: 8685550-12 is to the right in the picture and the -87 is to the left.
