T-5 pops out of 5th gear
I searched and read everything I could find over the last couple days but nothing seemed to quite match my problem.
It will go into 5th just fine but then will pop out after a few seconds.
At first it was only occasionally, then after 5 minutes now is like 2-5 seconds.
All other gears are fine, reverse sometimes grinds but im not worried about that.
All the search results I found, it either ground, or wouldn’t go in to gear at all or 5th just acted like another neutral. Which I understand is usually a slipped snap ring.
What is wrong with my tranny? is it something easy like the snap ring or do I need to rebuild it?
There is a non WC T-5 for $250 in craigslist about an hour and a half away from me, as a last resort.
thanks

Sounds like a detent to me, had that problem in mine with 2nd. If you want to tackle it yourself, you're lucky because 5th is not in the main part of the case, you can take the tailshaft housing off and get to it.
IMO though, I spent a grand having mine re-done, and if you're happy with the T5, I think that would be the best bet. A grand to rebuild it with a 1 year warranty so you can beat on it to no end for a year with no worry about blowing it up.

one for sale was I think $400, he paid $500 for a total rebuild,
a G-Force case is $350 and makes it near bullet proof.

No, was a total stock rebuild. Problem is where I'm located. Town I'm in has one trans shop and that's all. When the trans let go it was about 3 years ago and a seal or gasket went out and leaked out. I was 30 minutes away from home. It locked and I broke it free on the side of the road. Drove it home in 4th with no fluid in it (amazed it made it 30 min with no fluid lol)
Tore it apart found all the bearings welded and the input shaft gear had all the teeth literally smeared. So they ended up having to buy all new gears, main and countershaft, etc.
Know I got hosed on it so while it was in warranty, I abused it to no end, had it rebuilt twice more for free.

Got a link for the case? I'd like to upgrade my T5 before I do any more engine mods. Also promised the wife I'd teach her to drive a stick and would like some peace of mind that she won't be able to destroy my trans in the process

Don't have a direct link, only a week or so ago someone listed on here that the case was only $350, fixes the flex issues that make the stock one weak.
