Any 8.5" rearends for Third Gens?
I ask if there is a 8.5 that is close to fitting the third gens. I have seen a 8.5 with PBR aluminum calipers that was supposed to be in a 91 1LE camaro. I know it wasnt stock because it has upper ears like a Grand National. Any ideas?

if it had the upper ears, then no it was never in the 91 camaro, unless sombody went through all the hassle of rebuilding the rear frame for use with the triangulated 4 link from the GN
as for 8.5's, thats a 12bolt, and you cen get aftermarket 12 bolts form moser or strange engineering that will bolt right in. looking at a min of 2k though. Unless you can find a used one.

8.5"s are 10 bolts. Search Grand National and Second Gen Camaro rear ends.
I know its not stock.

that rear pictured is not for and 3rd gen and was never in one. move on.
Re: Any 8.5" rearends for Third Gens?
The only rear ends that were built to fit the 3rd gen were the 7.5, 9 bolt and a few Dana 44s. There are after market 12 bolt and 9 inch Fords. No 8.5 corporate rear ends were ever built for the 3rd gen.

Re: Any 8.5" rearends for Third Gens?
dana 44 was the only (sorta) stock 8.5" ring gear rear end for 3rd gen f-bodies, period. sold by gmpp and found in fire-hawks they are few and far between.
if you really want one for a "it was stock" reason pm me, otherwise get a 12bolt (8.75" ring gear) and call it done

Let me rephrase the question. Was there a 8.5 corp 10 bolt that had the close width that could be modified for the torque arm?

Re: Any 8.5" rearends for Third Gens?
2ndgen F-body used an 8.5" from '71-81 thats almost exactly the right width for a 3rdgen. IIRC, measured end to end, the 2ndgen 8.5" housing is less than an inch shorter than the 3rgen 7.5" housing.
