700 R4 Rebuild

Ive been having a little bad luck at the track lately. About 2 months ago I blew up my 700 r4 in my 92 RS (305 tbi). I got really lucky and found one for $100. It worked great for the past 2 months but last time at Virginia International Raceway I cracked a trans cooling line and didnt know it. I came into the 1st turn hard and came out the same way except something was wrong. It seemed like it didnt down shift and wanted to run the whole time in 3rd. After a little ways, it eventually shifted to 4th after a long stretch of high RPMs. I checked the fluid when I came off track and it was bone dry. I added 4 quarts and didnt see any fluid leaking so I drove it home (23 miles). It ran fine for a bit but then started acting up again. I made it home and dropped the pan the next day. It had alot of metal shavings in it. I know that theres going to be some but this wasnt your normal pan slime. This was very silver, reflective in the light, and thin and long (about 1/8 of an inch). Needless to say I know its on its way out or is just plain out. My question is this... What parts are usually responsible for something like this? Is it clutch material or what? Also Im rebuilding another 700R4 that I have and was wondering... whats a good kit ? Does it have everything needed ect..? Also what else should I replace when rebuilding it? Ive never rebuilt a trans but I have the book, Im very patient, and very mechanically inclined thanks to my dad and my husband. We rebuild alot of engines but I always wanted to learn transmissions. Any advice or pointers on what to get and where would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys and Ill say it again...thirdgen is the greatest and I love everyone here for the help they give others. I hope I can help more then I already have in the near future. Muaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh

First, you will have to get it apart and see what went away. I have the different kits for different applications. Go to https://www.700r4l60e.com/store/home.php?cat=19 Give me a call with your questions. 909-795-1876. Dana

Ok Thanks Dana. Im working on getting it apart but cant seem to get the input carrier-to-output shaft snap ring off. I think my problem is that I dont have the right snap ring pliers. I'll give ya a call soon or have my husband call when we're ready to start the build. Thanks again. Your awesome
