speedo issue

I'm new to the boards and any help would be great. Heres the issue I have an 89 gta that I am in the process of swaping to a t350 with 9 inch tail. I've been seaching the web and boards for the info on how to hook up the factory speedo but can't find a definate answer. I called dakota digital and the tech said none of the adapters they have will work. So I was wondering what everyone else has done.

Re: speedo issue

Here's what I did. You will need these parts to get your speedo to work, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DAK-SGI-5/ is the signal adapter. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DAK-SEN-01-1/ is the signal generator and adapter to the trans. In the picture, its a cable like adapter, but its actually a solid metal piece instead. You could use a speedo cable from a 83 camaro that goes from the trans to the cruise control(like mine has) if you wanted. Just wire it up per instructions, drive and calibrate it and you're set.

Re: speedo issue

I contacted jags that run and they are sending me a sender that is supposed to work but I'm a little sceptical since the sender doesn't seem to have the correct pulse signal. Also my cruise doesn't have a speedo cable atleast I didn't see one. I will keep everyone updated.

Re: speedo issue

One way to do it is...

There's a 3" adapter block that lets you run a 6" tail TH350 or 700-R4 tailhousing on a 9" output shaft TH350.

I'm not sure which output shaft (700-R4?) has to be used so that the 700-R4 speedo drive gear lines up w/ the driven gear/VSS in the 700-R4 tailhousing.

But that would let you keep your speedo parts stock.

Re: speedo issue

That would be a good way to solve the problem. Do you know who makes the adapter?

I'm not sure which one is right for an F-body. But one of them is.
