Very good video, takes you through step by step on cleaning, inspecting and rebuilding.

You have to scroll down to see the 700 R4 video.

I know everyone wants to save a little money when it comes to transmission work. But purchasing this video is cheap compared to the tools needed to actually do the rebuild.

Re: 700r4 rebuild

and speaking of the tools needed, I'd like to try rebuilding my 700r4 this winter and would buy the rebuild kit from from Pro Built (after all the recommendations here) but what kind of specialty tools will I be needing??

Re: 700r4 rebuild

you dont need any special tools to do the rebuild they say you need a spring compressor tool to remove the inner pump springs but you can use c clamps it is fairly easy to rebuild a 700r4. most you will use is flat head screw drivers and picks. to remove the retaining clips. if you have bad bushings you can remove them with some basic know how. and the Teflon seals can be substituted with the cut seals.
