700-R4 not shifting till 4,500 RPM

I'm a bit of a gear head but tend to stay away from transmissions. My transmission was rebuilt 2 years ago with a shift kit. Now it's having problems shifting into any gear without reving the **** out of my engine and it won't go into overdrive at all. I've messed with the throttle adjustment and there is no difference in the way it shifts. It's a 92 Camaro TBI any idea's?

My 91 RS acted the same way when the little clip at the throttle end of the TV cable broke.

I never got over 3rd gear so I don't know if it would have shifted to 4th or not - but the engine had to reach the yellow line in 1 & 2 before it would shift and stayed like that until the broken TV cable was replaced.

Could be the cable, ( broken inside the sheath or inside the tranny ) or it could be the valve.

Hi all. Let me start by saying that I am new to this site and to the third gen camaro. I have a '92 RS w/ 305 TBI and TH 700 R4. The transmission works fine under normal driving conditions but under WOT it will not shift untill the tach has run off the numbers ( Im guessing about 7800 rpm). can anyone help? I have purchased a new governor but not yet installed it.

If that happened you wouldnt have a motor left. I'm guessing your tach is fubar.

That is among the possiblities I have been looking at. The tach tells me Im at around 3100 rpm at 60 mph. This seems high comppaird to other OD cars I own.
