Zbar Linkage nightmare

Hello everyone. So my 83 z28 is set up with zbar mechanical linkage for the clutch. All I have with this is problems. About every 4 thousand miles one of the two ball studs it uses for pivot points snaps. I have tried a new z bar and that did nothing. I'm fed up with dealing with this problem and the lack of reliability it presents to my car. I would like to switch over to a hydraulic system, but I don't know where to start. If anyone has done the conversion and has any insight on parts, fabrication, or cost if would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: Zbar Linkage nightmare

you need to swap in the later hydraulic pedals, and swap the bellhousing to one with the bracket for the slave. Then pick a master/slave setup and go.

later set up as in 84, 85, 86, and so on? Could I use the pedal setup out of a 4th gen?

4th gen pedals work, but use the 4th gen hydraulics with them, 93-07 style.

i think the mechanical stopped in 84, so 85-02 pedals would work. they are totally different than what you have, so it will be pretty clear if they are the right ones or what you have already.

Re: Zbar Linkage nightmare

yes, you will have to make a hole in the firewall for the master to the clutch pedal though. Pretty sure its not the same hole as the mechanical linkage

Re: Zbar Linkage nightmare

why would it? its a factory setup made specifically for the car. the master mounts under the booster. plenty of room for it.

This.
The LT1 T56 hydraulics will fit 84-02 pedals.
