T56 starter choices?
In the middle of an L98/ T56 swap and i was wondering what kind of a starter i'll be needing, not sure if i can just reuse the one from my 305 TBI, i mean im not sure of the tooth count on the flywheel (fidanza from wesilva) because its being shipped and i also dont know the depth because i dont know if the t5 has a different distance than the t56, id like to go with a stock starter for money, unless i can find a mini starter for close to the same price (might as well lol)
Any info would be greatly appreciated
TIA

Re: T56 starter choices?
The only thing i can tell you is that when i went from a 700r4 to a T-56 i had to get an LT1 starter b/c its a 153 tooth flywheel and i think the 700r4 flexplate was like 164 or something. Idk about T-5 to T-56. Sorry i'm not much help...

That helps with the tooth count, I should be good with an lt1 style starter

Re: T56 starter choices?
Try your 305 starter. Get an LT1 starter if it doesn't fit.
All 82-97 V8 F-bodies were 153 tooth flywheel / flexplate.

Ill compare the bellhousings when I get a chance if they're the same tooth count I don't see why it wouldn't work, although the t56 does sit back a bit further... its worth a shot I suppose lol I'm just not sure if the extra length comes from the bellhousing or the 6th forward gear, or even a combination of both

I just remembered - I have a 305 starter with an LT1 bellhousing in my car.
