It's not a 700R4, if that's what you're asking. "Fit" as in it'll physically bolt in, it might if you have every piece, including the crossmember and the driveshaft. But really, why?

It won't live long, it's not a strong tranny at all.

Re: tranny from a 82 berlinnetta into a 88iroc-z

standard automatic used on the '82 v8 cars was the
3spd th200c it might hold up,might not-'82 up versions
were improved some, but still considerd weak for v8
usage they can be upgraded as a lot of the internal parts
are shared with the 4spd th200 4r which can be built
to handle over 500hp. The 82 tranny could be installed
in the '88 using parts from the berlinetta parts car,but
it would be far easier to just fix whatever is wrong with
the 700r4 in the '88,not to mention the 700r4 is a
better tranny...

Re: tranny from a 82 berlinnetta into a 88iroc-z

my dad says that any mechanic that rebuilds trannys will fuc* it up since he has had it done twice once in the camaro and once in a acura legend so he doesent trust that( A SHIFT KIT OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT WOULDENT GIVE IT WHAT IT NEEDED?
but i owe him 700 dollars and he said if i give him a tranny that could swap out for his we would be square and i wouldent owe him anything since i need fenders, hood, and nose off this car i thought i might as well get the tranny out
but you think that someone could rebuild one of these trannys using both the parts since they are similiar
