Car: '89 Firebird and '71 chevy pick up
Engine: 305 TBI, 350
Transmission: 700R4
700r4 swap
Hey gang, I'm new to the 3rd gen world. I'm looking for a 700r4 transmission, and was wondering if a 700r4 out of an 87 trans am 5.0 would be a direct bolt up in a 89 firebird 5.0. Bell housing, cross member, and tail shaft. Would i need a different drive shaft or not.

So why r u gettin away from the 5 speed?... im guessing it was a 5 speed since your asking about swappin in a 700r4

scamaro, Long story short. Bought the car not running, little elbow grease and got it runnin. then found the 700r4 thats in it was butchered up (wires cut, pan bolts stripped out, yadda yadda yadda). got an estiment of $1,000 for a rebuild, that aint happenin
Found a 700r4 out of an 87 trans am. Just wasn't sure if it was a direct bolt in. Found a 89 firebird on craigslist today that aint runnin. Might pick it up and part it out...Sorry, that wasn't so short was it?
