Transmission will not work in overdrive(in winter) but summer works fine?

Car: 1988 Pontiac Trans-Am GTA
Engine: 383 stroker tpi
Transmission: 700r4 Transgo full shift kit
Axle/Gears: 2.73* Posi
Transmission will not work in overdrive(in winter) but summer works fine?
I have 1990 GTA that i am goin to look at the man says during the winter or anytime it is very cold the transmission will not work in OD it will only work in 3rd gear(D). Also engine starts right up but once it gets hot and you turn the car off it will not start back up until engine is cool.
