Info putting a posi in?

Just need some helpful info on dropping my rear-end out and buying a posi unit and making it a bit stronger or just making improvements once i get it.

I have a freshly rebuilt 383 stroker, lightened crank, edelbrock performer rpm intake, edelbrock 1405 carb, hooker super comp headers, T-5 tranny fom a 84 w/a 305.

My car is not goin to see any track time just a enthusistic street driving, so any help in trying to do this rear-end would be greatly aappreciated, because i don't know much about rear ends, jst motors.

I would worry more about the T-5. T-5's aren't that strong and an 84 is even weaker than the newer ones.

Re: Info putting a posi in?

Ya that's what i hear, but it should stand up to mostly just driving around, no 5grand clutch poppin.

Just want to build posi that i wont blow away in a few days of driving around with that amount of power, unless you guys think that a plain old stock posi-unit would work just fine

I just dont want to spend money on one, then blow it up just cause I was careless and didn't put in some quality parts that could be quite worn already.

Any one know what the common items are to fail on these units?
Cheapest place for new-oem or better than stock parts?

Are you going to stay with the gears that you have now? If you are then you need to know what ratio they are. I recommend the Eaton Posi if you have 3.23 to 4.10 gears. Here is how to install it. http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19773

Re: Info putting a posi in?

I am prolly goin to get a whole different differential than what is in the car now. This weekend but i am nt sure what to do after i get it. Just put it in or tear it apart and make it stronger before I put it in.

Unless i can use the the open diff i have now and make it a posi, i am nt sure, any help?
