Bellhousing bolts.
What is the easiest way to get Bellhousing bolts out? My Dad ballooned the torque converter and now trying to replace it is giving us hell.

Re: Bellhousing bolts.
Rotate them counter-clockwise.
I find the upper ones easiest to get to from above with a SHORT box-end wrench.

Re: Bellhousing bolts.
The previous owner torqued one of the lower ones down so much, I (305 pounds) can't bust it lose putting all my weight into it.

Re: Bellhousing bolts.
I've taken HUNDREDS of transmissions out of cars. I have NEVER YET come across one that beat me. NOT ONE.
Yeah I'm a gorilla... I'm 6'1", 140 lbs. I blow away in a mild breeze. So I can't do A DAMN THING with my weight: I actually have to DO WORK instead of relying on gravity. I can't just hang on stuff and expect anything to happen.
Could be as simple as a longer wrench. Get up, go to Sears, see what's available.
Get off yer keyboard, think a little bit, get yer elbow grease on, and put in a little effort. Amazing things happen when you refuse to admit defeat. Speaking strictly for myself, a cornered but DETERMINED animal is a dangerous thing.

Re: Bellhousing bolts.
i had my tranny out for a torque converter repair a few
months ago-with my crossfire injection and all the
wiring and hoses in place(which i did not want to
disturb
)i could not get to the upper bolts-had to
get a few long extensions together and along with a
swivel on the socket end, went up over the tranny and got them that way
Supported the engine under the
pan with a wood block and did not move it at all.
Got my lincoln floor jack under the tranny, disengaged
from engine,lowered down.
Had the car up on stands a couple feet in the air.
