QUESTIONS ABOUT CLUTCH PLEASE HELP!!!
THIS IS ALL THE INFO I HAVE RIGHT HERE ANYONE WHO COULD BREAK IT DOWN AS IN WHAT I NEED TO TELL THE SHOP TO DO
CAUSE EVERYTIME I CALL SOMEONE THEY SAY THEY DONT DO IT ANYMORE OR THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE CLUTCH WITH A NEW ONE FOR 700$
JUST TRYING TO FIND AWAY AROUND THIS 700$
ANY THOUGHTS?
Clutch disc is worn down to the rivets.
The disc is a friction lining, exactly like brakes. When you have it partially engaged, the 2 parts are slipping against each other, exactly like brakes. When the lining wears down far enough, it exposes the rivets that hold it together, exactly like brakes. When the rivets are exposed, it squeals and shrieks and makes any number of other possible metal-to-metal grinding and scraping noises, exactly like brakes. When the rivets hit the metal, the metal gets destroyed, exactly like brakes. In the case of the clutch however, the disc has linings on both sides and is sandwiched between 2 pieces of metal, either or both of which could be getting destroyed; on the one side is the clutch itself which of course gets replaced when the clutch is replaced (duh), and on the other side is the flywheel. One can only hope that it isn't the flywheel side that's fornicated, because if it is, you now have "saved" enough money by putting off the necessary repair, to where you have to buy a new one; again, exactly like brakes: except that instead of a rotor for like $15-20, it's a flywheel for about $150.
You need to STOP DRIVING THE CAR before anything else gets torn up. Like, if you're lucky so far and the clutch side of the disc is the one that's worn through but the flywheel side is still OK and you don't have to buy a whloe new one yet but only have to get your existing one resurfaced, you don't want to continue driving it until that's impossible and it too has to be replaced. It's already expensive enough, I'm thinking.

Re: QUESTIONS ABOUT CLUTCH PLEASE HELP!!!
,clutches go bad, end of story. you have to replace it just like your brakes, and if you have to pay a shop to do it for you, you ahve to pay for labor. If you have mechanical ability and some time you can buy all the tools needed, a new flywheel and clutch/pressureplate setup for less than what they are charging to do the job and do it yourself.
if you cant do that, you have to pay to have it done, plain and simple.
a stock replacement clutch and pressure plate is pretty cheap, and anew stock flywheel can be had for under 100p bux anydoay of the week. For that matter, my billet 4340 chromemoly steel flywheel was only 125 bux.

flywheel
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ZZZ-50-6527/
clutch and pressureplate
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ZZZ-30009/
should use new hardware too.
i just posted the zoom parts because they are the first to pop up on summits site, they are many other brands. I do happen to have a Zoom kevlar faced clutch and love it.
if you buy from a shop, they will be selling you the clutch at a marked up price, which is normal. and than labor on top of that, a least a couple hours if all goes well, and they are not ***** slow.

Re: QUESTIONS ABOUT CLUTCH PLEASE HELP!!!
500 to 700 is a pretty common price range for that to be done as well
