Car: 1985 Z28/1981 Z28
Engine: 85 383 stroker/81 350
Transmission: 85 fortes tko 600 /81 turbo 350
Axle/Gears: G P ford 9" in proces
transmision problem
i have a 1985 camaro z28 with a 383 stroker and to no surprise the t-5 lasted bout a month and now i only have forth gear.i would like to know if anybody has a tremec in there car. when i try to find one nothing seems to work for my car. i like the tremec because it seems to be the best bang for your buck.any suggestions on what tranny i should go with will help me a lot

Check the T56 sticky at the top of the forum... LS block has nothing to do with it unless you want to keep your T5 clutch/bellhousing, then you can use a LS-T56.

Well I have about a 96 or 97 T-56 in my 83 car with its stock block, so yeah.... . I could be wrong, but I think it will work.
This swap has been covered in minute detail repeatedly on this site. Read the sticky Mike pointed out, the FAQ post in the FAQ forum, and do a brief search on this forum for posts regarding it. Then in case you can think up a question that hasn't already been answered, post it, and those of us who have already done it, will be glad to help.
