Transmission troubles

hey guys, my transmission keeps slipping and idk what could be wrong. it is fine in first gear and 2nd but after that the car acts like its in neutral and it isnt. if i put the car down into first i can drive it and the same when i shift it into 2nd, but when i put it into drive the rpms just go up. i have an 87 iroc with a 305 and auto trans.

any help is appreciated.

Most likely 3rd + 4th gears are burned up from a TV cable that is out of adjustment. Repair or replace.

My '88 does the same thing, I believe you need to replace the transmission and then ensure the t.v. cable is properly adjusted. It sucks...

had to put a front seal in my tranny everthing went well but i cant get the torque arm back on the rear end any help out there

Did the rearend rotate so the pinion is pointing up a bit after you took off the arm?

no it was pointing down and i figured it out i needed to put my jack stands under the frame and then jack up the front of my rear end and then the arm went on with no problem thanks

just put a pump on a 700 r,put everything back together and now it wont go in neutral and it slips while takeing off in drive,its full of oil last i checked,but my tt solenoid was cracked during removal and had trouble keeping my tv cable on the little hook on the tranny could any one have any suggestions what could be the problem,at first i just had a bad leak in the pump ,fixed the leak problem now this
