HELP on input shaft!
I need my input shaft shortened by like 3/4 of an inch. The tranny is an LS1 T-56 and its bolting up to a BBC so if anyone knows a shop that does it near 44312 like 70 mile radius or so. please let me know. I'm extremely busy but when I get a chance to call around I strike out everytime. Thanks!

Re: HELP on input shaft!
An odd request, are you sure you know what you're doing? Using the LS1 bellhousing with a hybrid BBC clutch/FW/TOB?
If you must shorten the input, I know Jason at TDP does this all the time...

Re: HELP on input shaft!
Well I think I know what im doing.. hopefully. I was try to find a cheaper option rather than buying a new bell or getting spacers and messing around with that.

Re: HELP on input shaft!
So your saying that the ls1 T-56 is better? The reason I bought mine from an ls1 is becasue I heard the lt1 pull style clutch is a pain to work with. and btw nice picture in your signature.

Re: HELP on input shaft!
Of you don't have your driveshaft made to length yet, there are spacer options - McLeod made one to allow the LS_ F-body trans. behind a Gen I-II SBC or Mk-IV BBC. A guy on ls1tech makes some. There are others too.

Re: HELP on input shaft!
There are several ways to do it right, and many ways to do it wrong, which is why I asked if the OP knew what they were doing.. A few searches on BBC, LS1, T56, etc. will pull up previous discussions on the options.

Re: HELP on input shaft!
Thanks. I'll probably end up going with a spacer then. I figured I'd end up kicking myself for going with a spacer when I'm pulling and installing engine and tranny all the times to fab stuff up. I'll check out ls1tech too. Thanks for the help again!

Re: HELP on input shaft!
I was just curious because this spacer way requires more work and the ls1 throwout bearing is known to leak and get on the clutch after some time.. the lt1 style is more like a normal slave its just the clutch is a pull. (just there way of trying something knew) so you would buy a centerforce or similar flywheel for it a clutch to match your power and the rest bolts right up
the ls1 and lt1 flavors I think are both ok

Re: HELP on input shaft!
So with the ls1 I can just buy the centerforce clutch and it'll bolt right up? That's what I thought.

I looked around on their website and can't seem to find him. If you have a fat minute do you think you could try to get me a name or handle or something. Thanks!
