well looking for a 4 speed and wondering if this tranny will work for me and would the attachments on the tail of tranny be there?My car is an 83 z28 with a 3 speed automatic.

 

I know for sure you will need to find the F-body tailshaft housing(~$20-30 off ebay), however if you have a 3speed, I don't know how it's setup now. I'm not 100%, but I think all the tailshafts are the same length for 2wd truck or car. In theory you would just need the housing to bolt on for the torque arm.

How is your torque arm setup right now?

 

its all there already could i swap this out onto my new trany from the transmission i have now?

 

have to take the vss tone ring off and put the a f body one on. need f body specific 700r4 tail shaft housing, need the crossmember from a 700r model, need the torque arm from same donor. trans is mostly the same. just the f body has upgraded parts and little differences. shifts slightly softer, different servos. i did just the opposite swap 2yrs ago for my step father, 93 4l60 into an 89 pick up. shifts kinda funny in a full size........

 

wont the 90 have a electronic speedo and the 83 will need a mech one?

 

the 90 truck 700r4 has a tone ring instead of a gear. you need to remove the tone ring.... it will come off. you need to find the right gear to match your speedo. look on the site in the search feature to find post or articules that give you more insight on that subject. again happy swapping! if i am correct the speedo head from the 3 spd will be the same as the 700r4.
