Are all 30 spline kits the same application wise? I can only find jeep sites selling kits since you can't really search for a thirdgen. I was hoping to find a kit with carbon clutches. Anyone know of a source?

 

Finding specific information on these is a little hard to come by. One of the forum members says he has the original documentation that came with it when he purchased it new years ago. I haven't been able to track him down so that I could request a copy.
I use Drive Train Specialists for parts although I haven't had to rebuild the posi. To tell the truth, I'm not 100% certain what kind it is not having gone too far into it. Just a gear change. Process of elimination says it's a TracLoc though.
Post your results should you have any luck with these guys (or others).

Double check the spline count. Could they be 31?

Well I ended up ordering a spicer rebuild kit from Randy's ring and pinion for a dana 44 with 30 spline axles. They have excellent prices and insanely fast shipping! It showed up overnight from WA and I am in south CA. I'm hoping it fits. The only source for this PN that I found was through jeep websites. A lot of them use a 30 spline D44. I will post my results, I will be installing it today.

 

Will you be getting into the posi unit?
I'd be interested in seeing what's going on in there.

I have it all apart. I had to do some serious improvisation to get the carrier out, and then some more macgyver type stuff to take the trac lok apart.

I'll be posting some pictures when its all done. This has been an interesting little project.

 

I had posted a pdf of a Dana 44 service manual if it might be of any assistance.
There was nothing unusual in my rebuild. Pretty standard stuff. Like I said though, I never got to the posi.

I managed to get it all together. I haven't driven it yet though. Now that I know how to do it I could probably do it pretty quickly. I'll try and upload pics of what I did shortly.

 

Last I read your posi wasn't working.
