700r4 questions. Dana @ probuilt please read
Hello I just bought a 88 700r4 it has a tci servo, tci .500 boost valve and B&M 70239 shift kit in it also has the B&M lockup wiring kit. I know it needs a rebuild because the guy i got it from said that it comes out of second and just free wheels like in neutral. to save mone on the rebuild Is the shift kit ( part #70239) any good? or do i need some thing better. Also what else should i look at for the rebuild for intrnals. The car is 88 iroc with a 1969 vette motor vortec heads from what i have been told i should be around 381 hp or a little more I plan on doing some add ons to get a little more hp soon. the car has no ecm . I am looking at a kit from probuilt but i would like to keep some of the parts that i have listed please anyone chime in on this.

I know the B&M shiftkit is not the shiftkit of choice but should suffice. Do a rebuild upgrade the clutches, you may need new gaskets for the valve body if yours tear. Ive seen people reuse them. Get a good stall converter. Adjust the TV valve correctly and you should be good. IMO.

RUN FAR AWAY!
I installed that same shift kit when i was 16 and now regret it horribly. It does nothing but jimmy-rig a 1st gear bang shift. You'd be much better off taking that 40 bucks and putting it towards anything else.
If I could go back in time I'd just bite the bullet and get a probuilt in the first place.

Replace the 3-4 clutch pack and install a Transgo shiftkit

What servo are you talking about from TCI? The .500" main boost valve is fine. These are basically the only parts that are reuseable. The Shift kit that I offer will do much better than the B&M all the way around, smoother part throttle shifts, faster downshifts, and quicker WOT shifts. All of my 700R4 rebuild kits now come with 24219937 second accumulator housing (modified accumulator piston and hardened RC52 accumulator pin) which offers the smoother 1-2 part throttle shifts, and quick 1-2 WOT shifts. This is much easier on the geartrain.

Ok thanks Dana this is what I needed to hear looks like its time to start saving for the kit. the kit I was thinking of is the RRRK70087. the guy at the shop told me that he would charge about $750 to install the kit. he also said we should put in new planetary, is this something that should be done? I was thinking about doing the rebuild my self but not sure if i have sold myself on that yet. I have read the book i got gm overdrive transmission builders and swappers guide, that all looks a litle deep. we will have to see about that.
